Bear Encounters in the Community

Recent bear sightings and encounters in Pinebrook remind us we live in wildlife country. It is important that we act responsibly and take steps to lessen the chances that bear will visit. The Utah Department of Wildlife Resources recommends homeowners “bear-proof” their outdoor garbage cans or bring them in at night, and clean them. Too, they recommend we remove, secure and/or clean other items that may attract bear:

  • Birdfeeders (both seed and hummingbird)
  • Fruit trees
  • Compost piles
  • Beehives
  • Pet food and water bowls
  • Unsupervised outdoor pets (especially at night)
  • Barbecue grills
